Diamond Fruit Growers History

Spotlight Grower:

R & W Orchards, Inc.,-Warren Hunt

Although R&W is a new contract to Diamond, Warren is no stranger to the Hood River Valley.  Born, raised and schooled in Hood River he shares a lot of memories with the local community. He shares three daughters and four grandchildren with his wife Rhonda, who have been married for over 35 years.

Warren and Rhonda own and operate the 50 acre farm off of Trout Creek Ridge, where they grow Green and Red Anjou’s, Green Bartlett’s, Bosc and Forrelle.  Warren has been familiar with Diamond since he was a child, where his father Jack Hunt worked.  Jack started with this company when it was known as AGA in the 50’s and stayed with the company through the early 70’s.

Warren has a lot of business experience as a district manager for Les Schwab Tires.  With that perspective he asks tough business minded questions for any operation.  As far as the industry goes, he says he would like to see a “more stable, consistent and dependable price structure for our product year to year.”  Locally however he would like to see a “better coordinated, team effort on the part of Hood River grower s to promote our agriculture products.”  He has pride that many of us share for where we live and what we do.   “This is one of, if not the most beautifully unique places in the world we should all feel great about.”
